I cannot believe we have to convince people to vote against Trump.

Interesting epilogue to that student who so badly used AI on her work. I gave her a second chance rather than make her 0s permanent. I know, too soft for many of you. But it felt right. She resubmitted the work. Much better. Days later I saw her at graduation...

We have no idea what our students are juggling. Best to offer grace and not be a hardliner, especially when you're teaching in communities with histories of marginalization and frankly colonial conditions.

She was one of two students in cap and gown who walked across the stage with their babies in their arms. I had no idea she was a mom. She never told me. I found out she'd told another teacher who then cut her some slack. Anyway, I was glad I was forgiving.

It positively chills you to the bone the degree to which white people will accept almost any atrocity if you convince them it’s only happening because THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT FOLLOW THE RULES.

Please. I implore you all. Don't take the bait. These individuals are doing Black women a favor. Just be glad this isn't 60 years ago when guys who felt like this married Black women anyway and made their lives hell. Wish him well and do the Kamala Wave.

Listening to Spielberg interview Villeneuve. Uncle Steven asked an interesting question: which of his actors hung around the camera studying what he was doing in a way that suggested directorial ambition. Villeneuve’s answer: Zendaya.

I understand the mixed feelings about Bill Clinton. But man, he broke an ironclad Republican stranglehold on government and your progressive fave was never going to be the one to do it. Y’all under 35 don’t know what it was like.

Yuri and Malcolm shared a birthday (she was 4 years older) and he died in her arms. We need the biopic on this woman immediately. Of all the things I am sad about being left out of Spike’s biopic, Yuri Kochiyama is at the top of the list.
Happy Birthday to the most influential Asian Americn Civil Rights activist Yuri Kochiyama. She shares this birthday with the great Malcom X, with whom she worked with extensively to bring allyship between Asian and Black communities.

That Joaquin Castro story, a sitting US Congressman only finding out he has cancer because he went to another country with a single payer healthcare system we can never have in this country because we hate each other & love the rich, has been fucking with me all week. Hopeless.
