- Will talk and write more about this in a few weeks, but having spent 4 days now in Florida, it is painfully obvious that the silly claim that WA enjoys the freest most enviable lifestyle in the world "in these times" is absurdly, delusionally false.
- Where are you gonna go? My wife would like to see her Mum and Dad. We'd like them to see our 2½ year old, who was 3 months old the last time we were all together. And our no.2, due next month. An almost comical lack of empathy.Print copy doesn’t quite capture her delivery
00:00 - New release from the ABS on COVID-19 mortality today. "The median age for those who died from COVID-19 was 83.7 years (81.2 years for males, 86.0 years for females)" (In 2019, median age for all deaths in Australia was 78 for males and 84 for females.)
- Australia is not quite sure if it wants to live with COVID or restrict its spread.
- A note to my profession. If we put as much effort into conveying the public health information from governments (our actual job) as we did claiming be to confused by it, I think the nation would be much better off. Everyone has a role to play, take responsibility and lead.
- Kids These Days. Got a flat tyre south of Capel today driving back up to Perth. With boot half unloaded and wife and bub on the side of the road, young bloke Don, I reckon 20yo, pulled over to help change the spare over. Got the job done in half the time. Thanks Don!
- Border rhetoric now out of control. There are real people with real lives, separated from families without hope, a plan, or light at the end of the tunnel. You can make the case for temporary arrangements to protect health without this. A sickening lack of humility and empathy.
- Christian Porter's political career is, I think, over.
- How good is the Boxing Day Test! Imagine if Perth produced a 1/100 at 2 an over strip and booed a Victorian. Knock yourselves out, though, on how great a sporting town you are to get people to the cricket on the one day of the year where literally nothing else is happening.
- Shane Warne was the greatest cricketer I ever watched.
- Thanks to everyone who listened to @6PR Mornings and @6PRbreakfast over the past six years. The privilege of a lifetime.
