    my logic: magic is expensive cheating implies an advantage was gained technically against the rules and “unethical” if counterfeits are used as a means to offset socioeconomic societal issues, i approve of that if you do not have the privilege/means of owning them outright the “advantage” gained is maybe you don’t have to work a third job to afford modern rcq season and can rest as much as the average competitor. all that “advantage” is doing is chipping away at the privilege gap that is clearly prevalent in comp magic there are no victims in this use case. obviously you are at risk of punishment if you get caught. obviously do not try to sell counterfeits to stores etc

    I have a lot to say on this, but I suppose this is the short version.
    Unfortunately, the reality is that, especially at the highest levels, hate (or, rather, the lack of empathy) is prevalent and caring about the safety and well-being of your community takes a back seat to personal motivations. It fucking sucks. A while back, I was fortunate enough to participate in the World Magic Cup and it ended up being my favorite event that I’ve ever played in. It had competitors from all backgrounds, from all over the world, and that’s what Magic is, what the world is, and I truly appreciate that. Magic was my safe space for decades and a place where I felt like I truly belonged. Everybody deserves that, regardless of circumstance or who they are. Many of my friends are from diverse backgrounds and marginalized communities and I love them all deeply. If you’re one of those people who feels threatened by someone different from you being in “your” space or you defend someone who feels that way: Fuck you.

    hey you should not fuck with racists, misogynists, transphobes, homophobes, any kind of bigot really, or sexual predators no matter how good they are at a card game you' be surprised how many people in this community turn a blind eye when someone is just a lil decent at the game

    In the off chance both the WotC announcement is good and SCG wants to hire people back, I highly recommend not going back without requesting a raise from your previous rate. For the record, I was getting $1000 per article and writing weekly.

    There was a Magic player I really liked. He got caught doing some bad stuff and made a really bad excuse for it. It’s okay to change who you like and is actually encouraged.

    World, meet Ren and Nora. Shelters were closing in my area and wanted to find homes for all their babies plus I’m not traveling anytime soon, so I made the very easy decision to adopt.

    As someone who, for more than a decade, participated in the highest levels of competition while colluding (for pro points, rent money) as legally as possible and never being penalized for it, I’ll say one thing: The community would be better off if this was not allowed at all.
