Making an indie game called Roglyph - Character RPG
Romans 14:11
Still adding more polish as I go. Added some new flavour animations and also added money drops, which surprisingly weren't in the game yet until recently. Notice the tiles move independently now too, which I thought was a cool effect. #indiedev#gamedev
In case you thought Roglyph was only about letters and numbers, here's a board games biome full of chess pieces. A glyph can be anything that has a text character. #indiedev#roguelite
PokéRogue was supposed to be a solo project with a medium-small scope that I could finish in about 3-4 months. It has been 14, but it never would have taken off like this if I stopped myself adding every cool new feature I thought of. I guess scope creep can have its benefits?
I throw videos like this around sometimes in the Discord, so I figured I'd share one here. This is what PokéRogue looked like 40 days into development. Can't imagine playing on 1x speed anymore.
Why do so many people keep comparing PokéRogue to Emerald Rogue like one has to be better than the other? This is a very strange mindset. I never even played Emerald Rogue and hadn't heard of it through most of development. Can we just see them as separate games that exist?
*Working on basic essential content*
"Ok but what if you could fuse any 2 Pokemon together"
*Drops everything and spends the next few days working on this*
This is actually how I do things apparently 😭
Hoping to finally have solved the server speed issues by reducing the amount of saves needed. Maybe tomorrow it will run like normal again with 40k+ people online.
Kinda hate how PokeRogue dev is slowly just devolving into recovering people's lost data and forgotten passwords. I don't want to spend all my time doing tech support, I want to actually work on the game.
