    Went to help in the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area today, and it’s hard to describe - never seen anything like this. Post apocalyptic. It’s so overwhelming you don’t even know how to fathom what recovery looks like, let alone where to start. Going to be a long path to recovery that

    On the first day of school, Krista Keith Bokhari and all 3 kids were at the bus stop drop off. A truck careened around the corner and hit her and two of the kids.

    Krista is back in the hospital for an overnight stay and her second surgery since getting hit by the truck. Prayers appreciated.

    I asked our friends at CCP to light the skyline blue tonight. For every officer on duty tonight, and their family members counting the seconds until they get home… no words can be of comfort… but just look to the skyline as a reminder of how much we all love you.

    From the deepest depths of my heart, I thank all of you who sent kind notes, prayed for us, and helped in various ways over the last week. Krista Keith Bokhari is still in some serious pain, but she has been getting better every single day.

    Today was the kind of gut punch that is almost too much to think about. Several of our brave protectors won’t be going home. I’m angry, but there will be time to channel that anger into action. For now we must support the CMPD and US Marshall heroes and their families.

    Uptown Charlotte was the safest I’ve ever seen it these last 3 days of @lovinlifefest and 10s of thousands of people who stopped coming or had never been are seeing it in a new light. Thats powerful economic impact that will live on.
