Latest Substack (free): Finding Equity in the WNBA, including a video link of my CNN spot with @Boris_Sanchez - I also recently wrote on the topic at B/R, details within:
If the Lakers sign Marc Gasol, I would like them to also sign Pau Gasol - at least for ceremony, so he can retire as a Laker. One of my favorite human beings to come across in my travels.
Jordan Goodwin is on a two-way (not playoff eligible). The Lakers can convert him to a standard contract before, for the postseason but would need to cut someone first (presumably Cam Reddish). LA can do a two-year deal. He can be on the active roster for 19 total games as a TW
Before Lakers fans hit me up saying "why do the Lakers just participate in the Dinwiddie deal here without additional compensation?" 1) They might in a small way and 2) Washington came through a couple of years back for LAL to complete the AD deal. Relationships matter
As far as I can tell, the Lakers have about $9.7 mil in cap space left - though with some creativity, that could climb to $13 mil - depends on a variety of factors we won't know until the deals come through
This Night In 1996: The Charlotte Hornets take Kobe, only to trade him to the Lakers five minutes later for Vlade Divac.
When the trade is consummated 15 days later, Hornets owner George Shinn says โI think this is the best trade weโve made in the history of the franchise.โ
โIโve actually heard Lakers have passed on Jerami Grant. He doesnโt want to play a tertiary role behind Bron/AD.โ
