U.S. gymnasts were asked about Olympic Village food. Simone Biles gives a diplomatic answer, and then 16-year-old Hezly Rivera raises her hand to chime in.
Rivera: "I don't think it's very good — at least what we're having in the dining hall."

- Simone Biles, relating to gymnasts worldwide here: "They saw it a little bit in practice. Having a little bit of the twisties." The twisties. The absolute worst.
- Simone Biles, more medals than any gymnast, the hardest skills, etc., etc., but holding the salute as she walked off floor was a top-tier Olympic moment
- Replying to @EmilyGiamRivera: "I definitely think French food is good, but what we're having in there I don't think is the best. But it gets the job done." Chiles: "I thought the pizza was good."
- Simone Biles, when asked whether this was the last time she'd vault in competition: "Is this my last? Definitely the Yurchenko double pike. I kind of nailed that one. Never say never. The next Olympics is at home, so you just never know. But I am getting really old."
- Simone Biles: "I have accomplished way more than my wildest dreams, not just at this Olympics but in the sport. So I can't be mad at my performances. A couple years ago, I didn't think I'd be back here at an Olympic Games."
- I wrote about the twisties — kind of like the yips but upside-down and in mid-air — and what they feel like, why they’re dangerous and how gymnasts try to make them disappear
- Simone Biles: "Girl, everything that Jordan does, she learned from me. Let's say that." Jordan Chiles: "Ay, ay, ay, I had my own personality before I met you." Simone Biles: "Watch my beam warmup and then watch Jordan's."
- Sunisa Lee on Simone Biles: "She'll go and do a pass, and I'm just like, 'How the heck can she do that?' And Cecile will be like, 'I don't know!' Nobody knows."
- Twelve years ago, 47 dogs were saved from Michael Vick’s dogfighting operation. Since then, they've aged and faded from the spotlight. Only 11 are still alive. But they altered the course of animal rescue and gave hundreds of others a chance to live.
- Simone Biles: "I know that this Olympic Games, I wanted it to be for myself. I came here, and I felt like I was still doing it for other people. So that just hurts my heart that doing what I love has been kind of taken away from me to please other people."
- Entering today, Simone Biles has competed in 35 individual finals at world championships and the Olympics. She has won 32 medals. The three times she didn't finish on the podium were all on bars.
- Replying to @EmilyGiamJordan Chiles: "She was giving us a little heart attack."
