Thrilled to share the first review for Refugee High, which comes from @PublishersWkly. I can't wait to share the Sullivan story with readers. Out August 10! @thenewpress
I vote more rants, esp ones like this: “I have all the makings of a trad wife, except what comes out of my mouth and what’s going on in my brain. It drives [toxic men] insane. They get so confused and triggered by women they’re attracted to." Trad wife gone is my 2025 fighter.
Three years ago, my 90yo grandmother started writing down her memories. Not long after, I began to collect them. I wrote about my love for her, and her tales of a long-gone Chicago, in the latest issue of @ChicagoMag.
"Grandma’s stories depict a city where life happened on sidewalks and stoops, not on smartphones, and simple things like a walk to a faraway neighborhood counted as a big deal."

What a nice surprise! Reporting this piece brought me hope in a time when it can feel hard to find. I think it can do the same for readers. Thanks to the @Suntimes and @WBEZ for helping share the story.

I first noticed letter after letter announcing doctor departures from Ascension CSM. After months of reporting, I learned dozens have left, many citing safety issues. Really grateful to those willing to share their experiences for this story. milwaukeemag.com/special-report…@milwaukeemag
Over the holidays, I spent time with asylum-seekers living at ORD in Chicago. I wanted to know what it felt like to be stuck in one of world's busiest airports among the swell of holiday travelers. Here is one family's story for @RollingStone.
I met pregnant migrant women scattered across chicago & I have been haunted by stories ever since. Many of the women find themselves isolated and alone in a city that is struggling to provide care for them. My latest for @WBEZ
