*Happy to share these considerations with you all. They are not rules. They are based on high-quality sources, plus our combined experience. Our intention is to get the ball rolling for new researchers in this field & to ⬆️ the quality of future papers

One more time for the people at the back 🔈 WE NEED MORE HIGH QUALITY STUDIES WHICH SHOW SIGNIFICANT/MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCES IN EXERCISE PERFORMANCE ALIGNED WITH MENSTRUAL CYCLE PHASES BEFORE WE CAN PROVIDE EVIDENCE-BASED GUIDELINES TO FEMALE ATHLETES ON THIS TOPIC

I know that this may be an unpopular view but I feel that I have to be honest as someone who has researched in this area for 20 y. There are currently no fit for purpose evidenced based guidelines to tailor womens training or performance to different phases of the menstrual cycle
Exclusive: @ChelseaFCW become the first football club to tailor coaching sessions to their menstrual cycles. @KateLouiseRowan reports - telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/…

18 months of planning 8 steering group members 3 athlete advisors 7 international testing sites Many grey hairs!!! It’s finally time to publicly announce Feminae!! Feminae: an international multisite innovative project for female athletes

🧵Female athletes please read: 1. The menstrual cycle does NOT have a dropsies phase 2. There is no high-quality evidence to say that your reaction time will be decreased in Phase 1 (when oestrogen and progesterone are low) & 4 (when oestrogen and progesterone are high)
Exclusive🚨Inside Chelsea’s GK Union In phase 1 + 4 of the menstrual cycle reaction time is decreased. Women suffer the ‘dropsies’. Over 90 minutes of fascinating convo for @TimesSport @gkstuart79 + @carlytelford1 explain how they combat it + loads more thetimes.co.uk/article/85ca6a…

I have so much respect & admiration for @EmmaPallant ‘s handling of this comment The initial comment seems to have been posted respectfully with Emmas feelings in mind but the fact remains that ‘we’ still have a social stigma about periods in sport Time to do better! Education 🔑

The veil is lifting! Watch this space for several new myth busting papers coming soon, offering pragmatic advice on the menstrual cycle in relation to athletic performance based on our current knowledge, understanding, experience, and appropriate research evidence!

    Replying to @ElliottSale
Female athletes please do not fear any phase of your menstrual cycle. World records, PBs, world cup finals, etc. have been won by women across all days of the menstrual cycle We can help with cycle-related symptoms but otherwise there is no blueprint for performance across the MC
