What's breathtaking about Vance is that he tells a personal story of govt helping him out - food stamps, grandmother's social security, GI Bill funding his college. But he stands for taking all that away.

- Um, there's this thing called elections that happen every 6 years for senators. Biden was 5 times re-elected. Judges on the other hand are appointed. It's hard to understand, I know, but important. Once you grasp the subtle distinction you'll realize how dumb you sound.
- Can't say this enough; Elon Musk's menace to democracy is intolerable. He's using the largest & most influential platform in the democratic world to stoke racial conflict and civil breakdown - in his own posts & what X promotes. Democracies can no longer ignore this.
- In last few hours YouTube and Meta have banned RT from their sites, Abramovitch has ceded control of Chelsea FC, Zelensky has added 1m followers and Kremlin website has site crashed due to cyberattacks. Nice work everybody.
- Entire McCain memorial - from the words of Lieberman, Kissinger, Bush, Obama & others, to the applause they receive - is a giant subtweet against Trump. There has never been quite such a spectacle against a sitting president.
- The most effective thing Americans can do is boycott companies that advertise on Fox. They bankroll the poison that goes from the studio into Trump’s head. The second is vote.
- Hard to overstate what a sinister figure Elon Musk is. Never seen one oligarch in a western democracy intervene on anything like this scale with unending Goebbels-grade lies.
- No one should have the slightest doubt that Trump-Pence are trying to kill the European Union - and that Putin is the chief beneficiary.
- small but significant detail: Kim Darroch went to a grammar school and grew up in a council house. Those who accused him of elitist bias (Boris, Piers Morgan, Steve Hilton and the other demagogues) went to expensive private schools. How stupid has Britain become?
- In his first sentence Biden says something Trump hasn't yet uttered: "First of all my heart goes out to all those suffering from the coronavirus.."
- Suspect history will brutally reappraise those who voted not to convict Trump over Ukraine.
