I find it slightly disturbing that this clearly only happened because of an itv drama.
I mean, fair play to the telly people, but it's not a great reflection on the media, the political classes or the police themselves.

The kids who I'm now most worried about are those on the edge of social services, the kids who schools and teachers keep a protective eye on every single day.
Just told the nearly-five-year-old thst she'd be going back to school in a fortnight. She immediately ran upstairs to put her uniform on "to practice".

Absolutely delighted to read in the King's Speech of plans for a mandatory system of registration for home education - and for a crackdown on unregistered schools.
Both these things are long overdue.
I know it's a cliché of social media, but if the last three weeks have taught me anything, it's that Reception teachers are all members some kind of secret cult of pedagogical witchcraft and alchemy.

I'm getting a lot of messages from teachers saying that, even if the schools stay open, teaching in these circumstances, with distracted sbd anxious students, will prove very challenging in the days ahead.

I know this teacher well. I can vouch for her enthusiasm and love of teaching.
