Delighted with the big fat namecheck for my recent @progbrit piece on the legendary @steverichards14 podcast. open.spotify.com/episode/0OLkrW…

I find it slightly disturbing that this clearly only happened because of an itv drama. I mean, fair play to the telly people, but it's not a great reflection on the media, the political classes or the police themselves.
Big news this evening > Post Office is under criminal investigation by Met Police over wrongful prosecution of hundreds of sub-postmasters. Police confirm tonight they’re looking at “potential fraud offences” in the handling of the Horizon IT scandal news.sky.com/story/post-off…

The kids who I'm now most worried about are those on the edge of social services, the kids who schools and teachers keep a protective eye on every single day.

Just told the nearly-five-year-old thst she'd be going back to school in a fortnight. She immediately ran upstairs to put her uniform on "to practice".

That's it - That's the Starmer philosophy articulated by the new pm himself... 'An end to the politics of performance and a return to the politics of public service' Amen

I've just spent 30 quid on posh cheese that essentially only two of us are going to eat and frankly I don't care what you think.

Absolutely delighted to read in the King's Speech of plans for a mandatory system of registration for home education - and for a crackdown on unregistered schools. Both these things are long overdue.

I've had a couple of drinks this evening, but this is the kind of story that makes me think that Starmer could be a genuinely *great* PM

This is the kind of behaviour that will win further approval of the normal voters of provincial England
Being the only person in shot to have brought his own cagoule is the most Keir Starmer thing I can imagine.

I know it's a cliché of social media, but if the last three weeks have taught me anything, it's that Reception teachers are all members some kind of secret cult of pedagogical witchcraft and alchemy.

By me in @tes: "Porn is society’s problem. Obesity is society’s problem. Gambling is society’s problem. Not schools’ problems. Teachers are willing to help out, but that should be the limit of the expectation. Teachers already have rather a lot on."

I'm getting a lot of messages from teachers saying that, even if the schools stay open, teaching in these circumstances, with distracted sbd anxious students, will prove very challenging in the days ahead.

Some personal news: After a wonderful 12 years, next month I will be leaving @Tes. I will be joining Public First as a director. There is no other organisation for whom I would have left Tes and journalism. 1/

This is one of the most powerful - and depressing - pieces I've published in a while. I know this teacher well. I can vouch for her enthusiasm and love of teaching. That it has come to this should worry us all. tes.com/news/not-good-…
