Greatly honored that @RDMetcalfe used the book with his Columbia Masters and PhD students and took the time to write this very thoughtful review. Thanks so much for lending your deep insights, Rob! Feedback from someone who is teaching the book is the highest compliment.
I reviewed the new "Experimental Economics: Theory and Practice" by @Econ_4_Everyone after teaching it for the first time this semester to Columbia PhD students. drive.google.com/file/d/1kUtoP8… @BeckerFriedman @UChi_Economics @UChicagoPress

I was just on an interview and the person asked me how I would illustrate the difference between causality and correlation. She wanted something ocular so I showed her this picture that my friend @rshereme sent me years ago.

In perhaps the worst kept secret, I have been named @Walmart's first Chief Economist. Of course, my home remains @UChi_Economics, but I will build an economic team for Walmart. Join me to deepen our economic understanding of markets and change the world with field experiments!

Economic journals take too long to make a decision; especially hurting juniors. Our new journal, JPE-Micro, commits to take no longer than 45 days to decision. I have introduced a clawback to make sure Editors are incentivized accordingly. #EconTwitter #makechange4everyone

Lots of career advice going around for young academics. Here is mine: kindness should not be conditional, just be nice to everyone since science and life are team games. And, once you “make it” never forget that status confers the privilege, and duty, to help others.

To make the point on what I was saying earlier on the Top 5 journals in economics: getting into one is very very difficult and should not be a prereq for tenure cases. If we continue along this path we will be in an econ mental health crisis. Great work is published everywhere.

I have seen many argue that “data is the new oil." In truth, the true value lies with the data refiners. Everyone has data, everyone can easily access data. The true value comes when you have a unique refiner who can both examine existing data and generate new insightful data.

A High School student just wrote to me asking for help on discerning correlation and causation. They said that they are visual learners. I sent this picture along. H/T my past self who posted this over a year ago.

I finally have a publication date for my new Experimental Economics textbook: December 12. Equally as important, I am proud to have negotiated a low price for the book: $38.10...for a nearly 800 page book! You can find the book here: amazon.com/Experimental-E…

We lost a true pioneer today. Rest in Peace Danny. While our work did not always agree, I always felt that I received a fair trial with you. We will all miss your brilliance, vision, and wisdom.

We will be announcing some exciting new features of JPE-Micro soon. But, here is a glimpse: time to change the incentives around replications. We will take them! The knowledge creation market in economics can do better. We hope to help.

Whenever I teach principles of economics I begin the course with: “In years to come you probably won't remember anything specific I teach you in this class, so I won't teach you what to think. Instead, I will teach you how to think.” Critical thinking skills stick.

Advice for organizations: partner with academics as soon as you can. Why? Because academics are the world's most under-utilized resource. And, "pay" is low: we will work for data!
