People have been really angry about climate change protestors blocking the M25. Today parts of the M25 are at a standstill because of flooding. Flooding is one of the weather events that will get worse and more frequent because of climate change. Just sayin’

- I don’t have loads of money rn so instead of buying Christmas presents for my sister I painted her kitchen.
- Mark Cavendish capturing why most of us ride a bike: “It’s the freedom. You’re not confined by an arena. There’s no tee-time. You can leave your front door at what time you want and go for as long as you want, the speed you want, the distance you want. The world’s your oyster.”
- It's with a huge amount of sadness that I'm sharing this news: my friend, and probably a lot of yours, @TimMcKenna01 has died. He was very open about his struggles with his mental health, and a couple of weeks ago he decided it was time to go. I hope you are at peace now Tim 💛
- This is what I did at lunchtime today - stood outside the Eurostar arrivals and said “thank you for not flying” to everyone coming through. There were lots of smiles in reply. Positive reinforcement is great and it’s good to be reminded that people are generally nice.We were at St Pancras today saying “thank you for not flying” to everyone waiting for the Eurostar 🙌
00:00 - Four million Radio 1 breakfast show listeners just heard @gregjames say “I don’t fly any more because of the climate.” Not about himself, but still, just the concept of not flying being on the Radio 1 breakfast show is HUGE
- Can we please use this awful time not to work out where else we’re going to get our gas from, but to work out how to live without gas?
- “Who is using iPhone 5 nowadays?” Well, I am. So if I used Whatsapp (which I don’t), it would stop working in October. Look, my phone is only 6 yrs old. It works perfectly fine. Can’t we celebrate the people who don’t just chuck products rather than punish them?
- This is one my favourite moments. I arrived at Waterstones Wells for a book signing on my Lands End John o Groats book tour. This lady stopped me outside the shop and said, I was following you up the hill! You might be interested in the book signing by a cycling author! …
- This week’s ride is a bit bonkers: 100 miles overnight to my mate’s house in Bournemouth. So while you guys are tucked up in bed I’ll be riding all night! Wish me luck 😬 #52BikeRides
- Here’s my new thing: to look after the towpath outside my boat. I move on every 2 weeks so don’t ‘own’ any land, but I reckon taking an interest in my stretch of towpath is a good thing. I’ve cleared all the mud/leaf mulch from this bit so it’s wider/safer for walkers/cyclists.
- Back from Nice by train. Not only is flying a nightmare with a bike, it’s also the most carbon-intensive way I could have travelled home. I would always recommend going overland - I haven’t flown for more than 10 years, but it doesn’t stop me travelling @FlightFree2020
