Excited to say I’ll be joining the Houston Astros organization as their Pitching Apprentice. I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point enough, including all of the athletes who I’ve had the privilege to work with. Looking forward to an exciting new journey!

Record your velos during throwing program! No, this is not just about throwing hard every day. We use them just as much to stay below/within the appropriate thresholds on low days. We are not good at guessing our intensity, calibrate yourselves to the velo to create better feel!

As my time with LA comes to a close, a recap on the new rehab throwing program we implemented: - Velocity driven - No distances prescribed - Plyos and weighted balls early (lower arm speed = potential of less stress) - ~75 total mound sessions for enhanced skill work Cont. 1/2

Velo is cool, really cool. Being able to use that velo to be more aggressive/confident with your stuff IZ, punch tickets, and limit free bases is even cooler. Development <—> Performance
    Average Velo Gains for Returners 💪 Returner K% 27.4 🔥 Returner BB% 10.9 💪

The brain will allow you to go as fast as it thinks it can safely brake. Deceleration is important. However, you don’t need to emphasize building Ferrari brakes when you have the horsepower of a Prius

A good reminder about how trying out new things that the field hasn’t caught up to yet is really awful for you! Make sure you only do things the way they’ve always been done!!!

Embarrassing programming for a rehab throwing program for a high level pitcher. Just embarrassing. Long toss capped at 120’ (paging @jaegersports), timed throwing, 55 pitch (55!) bullpens. Why are we allowing this as an industry just because it’s the way it’s been done?

If everything you read is “🔥” or somehow perfectly explains ‘your’ thought process, you’re probably not actually learning much just confirming biases. Similarly, just because someone you like or is popular says or writes something doesn’t make it automatically correct or useful
