MEPs advocated for the need to step up the response to the situation in the North, to provide jobs and perspective for young people there

Team Europe is keen to engage strategically in the energy sector. MEPs discussed Global Gateway flagships and how to make sure investments are sustainable.

- On their final day in Mozambique, MEPs learned that 6% of GDP goes to education in Mozambique but the needs are rising much faster than the budget can cope. Teacher training, pupil retention, quality of education but also basic infrastructure needs for schools are the focus.
- Replying to @EP_DevelopmentMozambique is very vulnerable to natural disasters and climate change. Cyclones, floods & drought hit repeatedly. The EU supports the country's INGD to anticipate and manage shocks, though according to UN agencies funds are lacking for partners to build true resilience.
- Replying to @EP_DevelopmentMalnutrition is a major underlying cause of child deaths in Mozambique and in the North 800 000 people are accutely food insecure. @EP_Development MEPs witnessed how NutriNorte with WFP and UNICEF brings relief and prevention of malnutrition in the provincial hospital in Pemba.
- Replying to @EP_Development🇪🇺 support is key, UN agencies & INGOs present in Cabo Delgado told MEPs. Only 25% humanitarian needs are covered & attacks are increasing. MEPs discussed the critical need for government action on poverty as a basis for peace. Humanitarian-development-peacebuilding go together.
