Eddie Kingston is an awesome litmus test wrestler because if someone says they don't like or don't "get" him I immediately know they have tastes that don't match mine.

The genius of AEW isn't that they book for a wide audience. It's that they know who their audience is & they book for them incredibly well. As a result their crowds are always invested & excited. This becomes infectious even to cynics or people alienated from modern wrestling

What if the WWE purposely corralled all the most annoying fans of their product to the Manhattan Center on purpose?

MJF: "the wrong man died." Arn: "I'd have killed em both."

Christian is one of the most consistent pro wrestlers ever. Basically his generations Arn Anderson, but his run has been longer and unlike Arn he's been given some meaningful solo main event spots including this one. An all time great worker that should be talked about that way

Kofi being built for ten months so he could be a five second sacrifice to a feud based on a nine year old MMA fight is the most WWE thing of all time. You have to respect it.

The thing about AEW is that they keep doing it and there is no reason to believe it's going to stop. I get why people doubted certain things early on, but the track record is clear now. They are, and have been, the top wrestling promotion in the world.

So many guys should study the pacing of guys like Kingston and CM Punk. When you know how to structure a match, time the dips appropriately, et it makes a huge, huge difference.

The @voiceswrestling guys have pointed this out before, but the fact that AEW treats the indie talents as wrestlers who are killing it on an independent scene that matters goes a long, long way both in terms of making new blood feel important and building good will with fans.

When I found punk rock, nearly 26 years ago, what really attracted me to it was the complex code of rules and regulations that I was expected to follow at all times and fully integrate into my life.

Of course I'm happy that commentary mentioned Garcia's draw with Yuta & his string of matches on the indies (obligatory IWTV plug). But it also protects Garcia. He lost but commentary noted he had 6 matches this week, including a 60-min draw. By design or not, it matters.

If you think this sort of stuff doesn't happen in the WWE because they have "talent relations" and/or entrenched corporate HR you know very little about professional wrestling. The top spot there is running the show and there was just a very obvious palace coup.
