- Dear tweeps. A brief, but important personal thread. With permission, I am very glad to announce that my favourite daughter (who has struggled with alcoholism for many years with lots of heartache, trauma, and drama) has been sober for over six months!
- Kenney just compared the divisiveness over covid and demonization of nonvaccinated Albertans with the 1980s demonization of those with HIV/aids. Kenney said that! The Kenney who was at the forefront of demonizing those with HIV/aids in the 1980s. See San Francisco.
- The trucker convoy arrived in Ottawa, in no small part, to try and force Trudeau's resignation. Instead, it is highly likely that O'Toole will be gone by Wednesday.
- I have had an off-the-record conversation with a longstanding senior Conservative backroom actor. He says that not only has Kenney sewered the UCP in 2023, and the CPC federally in 2021, but has set back the Conservative movement in Alberta for a decade.
- Kenney says that Alberta has a "compliance problem." Is it possible - and I am just spit-balling here - that UCP MLAs criticizing the restrictions might have contributed to the compliance problem?
- Sasha Obama missed her dad's farewell address because of an exam. I need to remember this the next time that a student asks for a deferral.
- Canada is discovering what sub-contractors learned about Trump in the 1980s. A contract with him is meaningless.
- This is an excellent speech by Trudeau. And something that every Canadian PM would say.
- No alcohol sales after 10pm. So those who have been vaccinated are being grounded, and those who are unvaccinated will get money.
- In January 2020 I was 266 lbs, today I am down to 246! I did notice when I had to add a hole to some of me belts, but very pleased to see the data. So for the trolls who refer to me as a "fat fuck," please change to "slightly less fat fuck."
- This is NOT just like the War Measures Act. There are not 15, 000 soldiers patrolling the streets. A thousand people were not immediately arrested. Habeas Corpus was not suspended.
- Throughout the occupation, conservative politicians (Bernier, Hillier, Scheer, O'Toole, Poilievre, Bergin, etc) have met with the protestors, encouraged them, and taken photos with them. But I don't see any of them on the frontlines now that the arrests have begun.
- Over the last 3 days, Alberta has reported 39 COVID deaths, 1542 in hospital, and 118 in ICU. Tomorrow Kenney is announcing a timeline on eliminating covid restrictions. The second sentence is not a proper response to the first sentence.
