- I met with Rt Hon.Yvette Cooper MP Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, on May 20 during my official visit to London, United Kingdom.
- Participating in bilateral discussions with Rt Hon. Bridget Phillipson, Secretary of State for Education of the United Kingdom, during my official visit to the United Kingdom.
- Participated in the Maldives–Sri Lanka Business Forum 2026 in Colombo. As we mark 60 years of diplomatic relations, we discussed expanding cooperation in tourism, trade, fisheries, and the digital economy, and strengthening investment ties between our countries.
- At the South-4-Care Learning Hub, I emphasized that unpaid care work sustains our families, communities, and economies, yet remains invisible and undervalued. Sri Lanka is committed to advancing a national policy on unpaid care work. #CareEconomy #GenderEquality #South4Care
- Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, commended Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic stabilisation efforts and the Government’s management of recent economic challenges and natural disasters during the bilateral meeting held at Temple Trees.
- Sustainable investment requires trust.And trust requires reform. Engaged with members of the Chief Executives Organization in Colombo. Sri Lanka is stabilizing, but our priority is long-term resilience through stronger governance, transparent institutions, and meaningful reform.
- Met with a delegation from the European External Action Service and discussed strengthening the Sri Lanka–European Union partnership.
- Met with Ms. Shanon Cowlin, the newly appointed Country Director for Sri Lanka of the Asian Development Bank.
- Met with Ms. Eliska Zigova, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Sri Lanka, based in New Delhi. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, science, and technology.
- Finland's education system offers many valuable lessons, particularly its strong student-centric approach. It was a pleasure to discuss these insights during a bilateral meeting with the Ambassador of Finland to Sri Lanka.
- Met with representatives of the #IMF to discuss Sri Lanka’s recovery efforts and fiscal governance in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah. The importance of long-term, structural solutions and the role of tourism, agriculture, and education in economic recovery were underscored.
- Human trafficking cannot be addressed through symbolic commitments alone. Our Action Plan must lead to sustained, coordinated action, with survivor-centred and gender-sensitive support at its core. I hope the Action Plan launched today will effectively address existing gaps.
