    I guess Elon Musk can only say no and if you don't ask you don't know. After the Minister told me in a phone call on Monday that the telecommunications cable to Tonga was down I immediately sent a letter to Elon to see if he would contribute Starlink to the emergency

    Elon Musk has kindly replied "Could people from Tonga let us know if it is important for Spacex to send over Starlink terminals" It sounds like he can figure out how to make this happen. This would be a good thing for Tonga. Can the community reply then please to @elonmusk

    Ayesha Verrall quietly released her damning Māori Health Authority report late yesterday. Almost every page contains a damning indictment of flawed processes, faulty management and failure to deliver – not one Māori health outcome has improved and further delays are predicted.

    For nearly every weekend over 3 months to Easter, I joined an ambulance crew across the country, usually on a night shift, to see for myself how NZers and our health system is coping after dark. This was quite a body of work. The map below shows the areas and EDs that I visited.

    Today marks one year since the birth of Health NZ, and yet not one single health metric has improved. Surgical wait lists have hit record highs, and emergency department waiting times are getting longer. National will restore health targets and rebuild our workforce.

    2 hrs before SH1 was closed last night, isolating Northland, I texted Kieran McAnulty, Minister for Emergency Management, warning him what was happening. I have kept him in touch with Northland's needs and he always replies. Good to have an open path to the responsible minister.
