To all the girls and women who do not see themselves represented in science or medicine: I see you. I celebrate you. I AM you. @WOCScan @cos_uoft @visionsofsci
In honour of the UN’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we talked to some of SickKids’ most senior female doctors and researchers. Find out what advice they have for girls interested in a science career. sickkids.ca/AboutSickKids/… #WomenInScienceDay @UN_Women

Growing up in Toronto in the 70s, John Lewis was a hero to me.Back then, we could barely walk down the street without hearing racial slurs. He selflessly fought for us all. Hoping the “good trouble” he started is the platform on which we build. Rest in power, Mr. Lewis.
Farewell, sir. You did, indeed, fight the good fight and get into a lot of good trouble. You served God and humanity well. Thank you. Take your rest. #JohnLewis

Recently, had to justify to some medical leaders that addressing anti-Indigenous &anti-Black racism, and wellness for all are not mutually exclusive. And that collecting more data- while important- must not delay action needed now. 1/2

Just attended the launch of the amazing @NationalBlackG1 Zoom trolls invaded spewing hatred and calling for ‘Death to the n***’. “You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, like air, I’ll rise”. Maya Angelou

Important read for every leader in healthcare and academic medicine. The “lack of diverse female representation can negatively impact an organization“. Food for thought on #IWD2020 Gender Equity Is Useless Without Racial Equity forbes.com/sites/janicega…

    Important piece by phenomenal @UofTMDprogram student @chantalp_MD. 🙏🏾Chantal for breaking down barriers. @uoftmedicine @UofTBMSA @bmsacanada @NEJM @cos_uoft
A lack of competency in engaging with Black patients is the reality in Canada, where Black communities have been undertreated for their pain and have reported barriers to Covid-19 testing. Reforming medical education and addressing institutional racism are the answers. #COVID19
