- I’m very disappointed that in the midst of the largest public health emergency ever that @BBCScotland has decided to cut back coverage of the @scotgov #DailyBriefing. #Olderpeople esp at this time depend on this info- yet another example of #age #discrimination during #Covid19.
- I simply cannot believe that @Jackson_Carlaw on @BBCScotlandNews is suggesting #carehomes will not have recruitment problems when we close the door to #immigration. We have consistently given evidence which @ukhomeoffice has ignored.This is delusional politics devoid of reason.
- Can politicians and media please stop the #vaccinegame. What matters is the one target - maximum protection for the most vulnerable. That’s why #carehomes are a priority. It takes a lot longer to vaccinate in a #carehome due to infirmity, frailty & dementia distress. #marr
- Am astonished that @BBCScotland has decided to stop coverage of a hugely critical #Covid #Omicron briefing half way through and to cover it online. So many don’t have access. This is not helpful at all at such a key and anxious stage.
- Today I’m saddened that from now because of @GOVUK #immigration the door has been shut to #carehomes and #homecare providers in #Scotland to recruit internationally. #Socialcare voices were ignored by @pritipatel. We are much poorer in care and more at risk because of this.
- The failure of @pritipatel to recognise that #Scotland has unique demographic, geographical and health needs and thus needs different #immigration approaches is a failure that will cost lives in months ahead. This is beyond party politics. It is shameful. @scottishcare
- I am so annoyed that the #immigration debate has focussed on #care as being low-skilled ! What is low skilled about empathy and compassion and building trust for those at the end of life or living with #dementia? #careaboutcare @scottishcare
- Scandalous for Simon Stevens on #Marr to say that #PPE was not prioritised for the #NHS - 100s of Scottish care providers were told by suppliers they were prioritising the NHS. This decision directly impacted #carehomes- thank goodness for @scotgov emergency supplies route.
- The fact we have vaccinated 80% of #carehome residents and over 55% of staff is a huge effort which has to be applauded. Thanks to all involved. @scottishcare @HSCScotland @Carolineslamb @alisonstrath @JeaneF1MSP
- I have spoken to Mr Gombels from Gombels and clarified that his organisation will support delivery of #PPE to Scotland. Very grateful for the conversation. @scottishcare
- Important to hear @NicolaSturgeon on #Marr clearly state that Scottish #carehomes do NOT have a higher #COVID19 death rate cf to England. ‘Excess’ deaths are considered as Covid rather than failure to do so in England. We must learn together to reduce harm rather than point score
