    I was deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Eric Montross. We lost a great man! He represented The University of North Carolina in a first class manner both on the court and off. No one did it better than Eric. He was way too young. God bless him and his family.

    Let’s give Jason some grace. He was a very good player and a terrific leader on some great teams at UNC. He is part of “The Family”. I wish I was a better coach for him and his teammates during a challenging transition his last two years. #GoHeels

    I loved Chris and his family, but we didn’t have a scholarship. Back then you could only offer 5 in one year and a total of 8 over two years. Plus, we had Raymond Felton in the class ahead of him. I think it worked out ok for Chris and the Heels.

    Real gut punch here. Sad day! Walter Davis passed away. Too soon. Everyone loved Walter…unless you had to guard him. He would come back to Chapel Hill with the other NBA players and play pickup with us in the summer. Great player. Better guy. RIP Sweet D.

    Unfortunately, if Coach K was starting out at Duke today he would probably not see year 4. He had a supportive AD in Tom Butters that was a coach and had the guts to give him an extension in year 3! Great story!

    After 3 years, Coach K’s record at Duke was 38-47. He’s now the winningest coach in NCAA men’s basketball history. He didn’t change what he was doing, he just continued the process of building a solid foundation. Sometimes the best strategy is being patient and consistent.
