RRR (2022): Bombastic blockbuster bromance epicness. I just kept smiling. Thereโs no other reaction. Itโs like a fireworks display thatโs 80% grand finale but with tigers and friendship grasps and joyously animated spirits. Sign me up for the club, I love #RRRMovie.
Still thinking about the restaurant scene in THE INVISIBLE MAN and how it commits murder in public, pins guilt on the film's victim, takes gaslighting to the extreme, and destroys the concept of safes spaces in a matter of...maybe minutes?
#PREY is, indeed, the best Predator entry since PREDATOR. All praise to Amber Midthunder who owns the screen against her alien foe. Itโs back to the bloody basics of a thrilling hunt that delivers everything I want from a Predator flick in its brutally primal glory.
#EvilDeadRise gives me everything I want as an EVIL DEAD fan and more. Itโs as vicious as 2013, opens the door to future entries in endlessly exiting ways, and owns its place in the series. Iโm still buzzing. A franchise that continues to do no wrong.
LONGLEGS (2024): Holy shit. Oz Perkins has crafted an outstandingly bleak and fiendish investigative thriller. It's so violently evil (๐). A film that lingers in your thoughts, under your skin, and in the pit of your stomach well after it's over. Perkins' best (so far).
