    TSA guy searched my bag. Found my idol light sticks. Him: "The hell are these? Mini Yoda lightsabers? Me: "Oh they're just light sticks. For concerts and stuff." He then fucking leaned in and did a Yoda voice. "MMH. MASTER RAVER, I AM." He said. Blindsided me.

    Losing my mind at the fact that Japanese Elden Ring players kept seeing 「砦、夜」(Fort, night) player messages all over the game and some started theorizing there was some kind of event/boss at some fort at nighttime, but it was just English players making Fortnite memes.

    One of my favorite encounters with a Japanese developer was when I was doing bugtesting and submitted an issue about how pressing the AltGr key could trigger a crash. 12 hours later I got the message "Japanese keyboards don't have AltGr." and they marked the issue as solved.

    This is kind of a perfect encapsulation of why a lot of translation critique on this website is fundamentally flawed. Just about everyone complaining about the official release is kneejerking without looking at the original JP.
