In the richest state in the richest country in the history of the world, Baltimore City students are eating this, and trying to learn in winter coats. We must dramatically increase funding for our public schools.
This is what Baltimore City students are served as lunch.

I'm proud to endorse the most progressive, popular, and electable candidate for President: @BernieSanders #NotMeUs

It’s a beautiful day to override! Governor Hogan delivers an Emmy-caliber performance as a “moderate” on MSNBC. But here in Annapolis, he has vetoed bills about reproductive freedom, workers’ rights, and establishing paid family leave. By tonight, we’ll override all ten vetoes.

A few minutes ago, I introduced the Social Housing Act of 2019. The first of its kind in America, it would finance thousands of publicly owned apartments available to everyone. Housing should be a human right, and this legislation moves us toward that reality in Maryland.

Thune worked as a cook in high school and was born in 1961, so we’re charitably talking about 1979. $6 in 1979 is $22 today.
I started working by bussing tables at the Star Family Restaurant for $1/hour & slowly moved up to cook – the big leagues for a kid like me– to earn $6/hour. Businesses in small towns survive on narrow margins. Mandating a $15 minimum wage would put many of them out of business.

HUGE NEWS: The Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee just PASSED the Dignity Not Detention Act—my bill to ban ICE detention centers—on a party-line vote. It’s set for full passage on Monday, and Maryland is set to become the national leader on this issue.

The state is flooded. The country is on fire. The Bay isn’t restored. Baltimore City still lacks reliable transit. And COVID is decimating our most vulnerable neighbors, particularly those of color. Happy 5th Anniversary to one of the worst policy decisions in state history.
Five years ago, Gov. Larry Hogan canceled the $2.9 billion Red Line, scrapping a project touted as a windfall of jobs, development and environmental sustainability, especially for some of the city’s Black neighborhoods. bit.ly/35x4NCF

BOOM: With two hours to spare, the Dignity Not Detention Act—my bill to ban ICE detention centers—PASSED both chambers of the General Assembly with a veto-proof majority. Tonight, Maryland sent a clear message: No one should profit from human misery and family separation.

NEW REPORT: Larry Hogan funneled millions of public money to his real estate company’s clients. He could’ve easily recused himself. Instead, Larry became the first governor in the state’s history to make millions while in office.

Beto and I have the same chance of becoming president, so here’s my counter-proposal: the wealthiest households would pay a “peace tax” to entirely cover the health care for everyone. And then we don’t newly authorize wars.
Non-military households would pay a "war tax" to help cover the health care of veterans of newly-authorized wars under a plan Beto O'Rourke's campaign unveiled on Monday cnn.it/2N67Zxb

Maryland has enough federal money to keep *every at-risk renter* in their home. Like, for real. The total rent debt is $402.7M, and we got $401.5M in just the first tranche of funds. Yet we've spent less than a third of that. And evictions are ramping up. Let's talk about it:

TOO SOON: @COVID19Tracking Project puts Maryland in the Red as one of 18 states that cannot safely reopen. Experts say a 10% positive testing rate is the max you want to see before reopening. Maryland's rate: 22.5%. That's the *highest in the country.* covidexitstrategy.org

MASK OFF: Gov. Hogan just vetoed the Dignity Not Detention Act, my bill to ban ICE detention centers in Maryland. Hogan plays a "moderate" on MSNBC, but has never been a friend to our immigrant neighbors. I look forward to the General Assembly overriding this veto next session.

Starting tomorrow, Andy Harris should be safe and unemployed at home, along with every other member of Congress who instigated this attempted coup.
All seven of our U.S. Representatives and our two U.S. Senators are confirmed safe.
