In 2026 there have been more than 40 juveniles who were victims of violent crimes such as aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.

- Today the City of Dayton held its ribbon cutting for the new West Patrol Operations building. This new facility is the first newly constructed Dayton Police Department building in more than 30 years. The new building is at the corner of W. Third St. and Abbey Ave.

- On Memorial Day, May 25, 2026, officers conducted traffic enforcement on I-75. Among those receiving citations were this black Corvette that was cited for driving 96 miles per hour. This silver Chevrolet was also cited for going 86 miles per hour. Both were in a 55 mph zone.
- City Manager Shelley Dickstein is pleased to announce the promotion of Major Brian Johns to the position of Assistant Chief for the Dayton Police Department, effective June 8, 2026. The date of the formal promotional ceremony will be announced later.
- Members of the Dayton Police Department joined other law enforcement agencies for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics today. DPD staff ran 5.4 miles from the Safety Building to the National Museum of the US Air Force.
