Seven years β€” St Andrews to Oxford β€” distilled into 110,000 words. Queering the queer in Contemporary Theology…. Not just the first systematic theology from a gay celibate (Side B) perspective but the first ever treatment from patristics through to modern theology of gay desire.

As a celibate gay Christian who is constantly cancelled by conservative and progressive forms of cancel culture, I am truly amazed at how horrible Christians can be to each other. We need some deep soul searching before we can open our mouths to witness and proclaim Jesus' name.

I came out 18 years ago at the age of 14. I became an atheist gay activist and queer postmodernist. I then met Christ in a pub and came out as Christian. I’m now a celibate gay/queer Christian Augustinian who lives for an alternative love. Celebrating who God calls us to be!

I was an atheist, gay activist that hated Christians and the god many represented to me. Then, the real God revealed himself to me in Jesus Christ in the power of the Spirit 10 years ago in a pub in gay Sydney. I met a love so extraordinary I’m spoilt for the cheap counterfeits.

I really don’t belong anywhere in the Church anymore. It’s a painful reality. I belong with Jesus but in every church β€˜faction’ I just don’t belong. I don’t feel at home or safe. I feel at sea, clinging to the cross of Christ, a pilgrim pulled by a deep desire not to compromise.

Becoming a celibate (gay) Christian hasn’t really ever had to do with repressing or ignoring my humanity but about stepping into the greater humanity I was created to become. It’s about a greater fullness I have inherited: David Bennett in Jesus, a royal heir and son of God.

Had the wonderful news that I passed my doctoral viva @UniofOxford. Stay tuned for completion of corrections and possible publication. #oxford #oxon #dphil #joy

Being a celibate gay Christian is full of life and the power of the Holy Spirit. The joy I have is immense knowing I am living in the will of Jesus and according to God’s vindicated created order. The Spirit will testify even if my Church will keep ignoring this precious gift.

My story starts with #Pentecost. I was baptised in the Holy Spirit when a friend prayed for me in a pub in the gay quarter of Sydney. I was an atheist queer activist who vowed to destroy Christianity. Now I’m a theologian at Oxford devoted to following the Lamb wherever He goes

As a celibate gay Christian who has embodied the @churchofengland’s ethic to great cost, I’m deeply disappointed with the LLF process. No pastoral provision to help gay people follow God’s teaching in a non-repressive, love-filled way. Ignored by my local bishop. #llf #cofe

Prayer is not always words; prayer is a never-ending trust in every moment of the presence, power, person, and providence of God in Christ

I obviously want to help straight Christians understand questions related to sexuality and faith but please, do not continually ask me or others to explain. We have written books, made podcasts, had conferences, risked our peace. Learn to educate yourself as an act of love.

As a nineteen year old, I met Jesus in a pub in the gay quarter of Sydney Australia as an atheist. Today, I am walking through the fields of Oxford, doing that for which I was created. He is the pathway to everlasting joy, and the eternal purpose of our souls.
