Adult critical care beds in London. 100% occupancy is not reached because that would be dangerous (and operationally foolish). Instead, when they see occupancy rising and rising, hospitals have to open more critical care beds (aka 'surge'), to try to keep some margin.

My 1st covid hospital heatmap since the winter wave. Trusts, virtually across the board, are seeing an increase in the share of their general beds occupied by covid-positive patients. Two dozen or so at 5-10%+ - where it starts to make things more & more difficult operationally

BREAKING - NHS England writes to local NHS leaders asking for additional measures to deal with the current ambulance crisis and heatwave - notably exacerbated by covid-related absences, too

BREAKING The former CEO of Countess of Chester Hospital was wrongly forced out of her job in 2022-23, because she raised whistleblowing complaints about bullying behaviour by its chair - who is still in post - an employment tribunal ruled yesterday.

NEW - Emergency attendances update - now, incredibly, cut in half over a three week period. As per last week - don't assume they all didn't need to come to hospital - there are many who need care. Stroke admissions have plummeted, according to multiple reports, for example.

BREAKING NHS England chair Richard Meddings has announced his resignation, after discussions with Wes Streeting. He was keen to continue in the role, but ministers want to bring in a new and trusted figure to oversee delivery of their agenda.
