Praying for the Pleasant Plains football player who had a medical emergency tonight at Riverton. Also prayers for his family, teammates, coaches and everyone impacted — Riverton as well as Plains.

Best wishes go out to longtime area athletic trainer Pete Stoll, who recently suffered a “mild to moderate” stroke. On a Facebook post, Pete said it could have been worse. He’s going through therapy and is determined to be back helping area athletes soon.

As A. Lincoln said, "The Journal paper was alwaysmy friend." I will miss all my friends at Ninth and Capitol.

Congratulations to the Clinton H.S. boys basketball team and first-year CHS coach Vic Binkley. The Maroons are 20-5 after Tuesday’s 51-50 OT win over Shelbyville. It’s Clinton’s first 20-win season since 1996 and just its second winning season in the last 17 years.

After 35 seasons, Dave Bates has called it a career as head football coach at Auburn High School. I remember one of his players, after the Trojans’ state final loss in DeKalb a few years ago, coming up to Dave and telling him, “Thanks for being my coach.” Well said, young man.

Thanks to Williamsville High School for the wonderful gesture tonight. Very Humbling. Plus I got a cool piece of headgear.

We lost a great person early this morning. Terry Todt's dogged, determined battle with cancer ended, and the suffering is over. A huge loss, especially for the Montgomery and Macoupin County area. There'll never be another T. Todt, who always reminded us "It's about the kids."

Exciting news for Riverton athletics. A.D. Tom Weir said the board of education recently ok’d a project to install field turf on the football field and on the Hawks’ baseball and softball infields (and new drainage systems for the outfields). The track also will be replaced.
