This amazing store would be illegal to open in San Francisco's District 3.
That's absurd and it's something I'll prioritize fixing as your next District 3 Supervisor.

District 3 Supervisor representing San Francisco's incredible northeastern neighborhoods. Working for more 🏘️ + 🌳+ 🚍
- New housing units submitted to SF planning thru first 4 months of the year: 2015 - 2,084 2022 - 62 Yes, 62. This will hurt future generations and make our affordability crisis worse. We need to get projects unstuck and incentivize new starts.
- The White House just called out San Francisco. A new report highlights our broken housing system. San Francisco's average time to permit a new home is an excruciatingly slow 33 months, magnitudes slower than comparable cities.
- Today alone, Etsy announced SF office closure + Twitter trimmed 9 floors. It's never been more clear: telling people to go back to the office is not a strategy. Action to make downtown cleaner, allow thousands of new housing units + new open spaces - that's what we need!
- Here's the scene on night #1 of the new Central Subway. Minutes after the @warriors game ends, a packed train lets off at Union Square. Build the train, and they will ride!
00:00 - In preparation for APEC, San Francisco is cleaning its streets, activating new public spaces, removing graffiti, and planting trees. We're seeing civic projects delivered in record time without endless bureaucracy. Imagine if we operated at this pace 365 days a year!
- An astonishing number: nearly 40% of people age 18-34 in the U.S. are now living with their parents. Yet another reason why we need to build housing *and* why we need to elect young people to office that know the housing crisis our generation is facing.
- Just in: Caltrain ridership is up 41% compared to last year 🚆 ⚡Great reminder that when you make transit faster and more frequent, more people ride it!
- This is ridiculous. San Francisco has real issues - like dirty streets - that the Department of Public Works should be focused on. Not this.
- More of what downtown needs right now - fun! The Hyatt Embarcadero's rotating restaurant, stalled since it was turned off in 2007, is making a triumphant return. It will offer incredible Bay views throughout a 50-minute rotation.
- I won't take away your @Caltrain like other Supervisors will, but I might shut down your street sometimes so the kids can play.
- Francisco Park is getting close! This will be a stunning new park ✨
- Replying to @DannySauterWhy is it illegal? Currently District 3 does not allow for "Flexible Retail," which is the combination of 2 uses. In this case, a general retail (bookstore) and limited restaurant (coffeeshop). District 3 was intentionally carved out of a new Flexible Retail law passed in 2018.
- The most expensive trash cans in the world won't make things cleaner unless they are a.) picked up regularly b.) available on (almost) every corner We should all be frustrated that our city continues to fumble the basics.
