Step into the magic ✨
The day is here! Regeneration: Black Cinema 1898-1971 is now on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts through June 23, 2024: dia.org/events/exhibit…
Remembering the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, a frequent supporter of DIA events. She’s pictured here at the 1991 Bal Africain, a fundraiser for the Friends of African and African American Art. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and our Detroit community.
We did it! 🎉
We did it (again!)! 🎉
We are honored to announce that the Detroit Institute of Arts has been named the Best Art Museum in America by @USATODAY readers — for the second year in a row.
To our supporters, patrons and staff: Thank you.
We had a very special monster visit us this weekend while he was in Detroit to celebrate the 50th anniversary of @sesamestreet. We love you too, Elmo! #ThisIsMyStreet
We hear there's a #museumsnowballfight happening now! While we're not affected by #BombCyclone, we have plenty of snow over here in #Detroit! Throwing Willard Leroy Metcalf's "The White Veil" your way!
James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Nocturne in Black and Gold, the Falling Rocket, 1875, oil on panel. Detroit Institute of Arts, Gift of Dexter M. Ferry, Jr., 46.309. #FeaturedArt
Yesterday, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden chose a painting by African American artist Robert S. Duncanson to take part in Capital Rotunda gift-giving ceremony. Best known for his work during the Civil War era — Duncanson's work is featured in the DIA's permanent collection.
We are approaching the final weeks to see the DIA's "Van Gogh in America," which will be on view through January 22. Get your tickets at dia.org/vangoghinameri…
