Southern Columbia’s head football coach Jim Roth, who is now the all-time state leader in wins with 456, has coached at SCA for 37 years. He has NEVER had a losing record. His teams have made the PIAA Championship more than 50% of the time. Let that sink in... (@END2008’s image)

Out of all the teams I’ve covered throughout my career in media, this Southern Columbia football state championship was the most incredible run I’ve witnessed. People slept on them all season, but the Tigers got it done with a record 6th in a row and a 13th overall.

PIAA Girls πŸ€ 2A Championship: For the first time ever, the Mount Carmel Area Red Tornadoes are State Champions! They beat Neshannock by a score of 54-43. The Big Red will be celebrating a team title for the first time since 2002 at MCA. #GoBigRed @NIsports

I had the privilege today to inform two individuals that they earned the biggest sports honor in the Keystone State. Remarkably, in the same year, Jim Roth and Jerry Marks were voted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. It is the highest honor awarded in athletics. Wow!

I’m not going to lie, I have been working my ass off this Fall with all kinds of sports stories to promote the hard working athletes. I don’t get much time to check up on Twitter, but I’m glad I saw this. Talk about a class act in defeat. This is what it’s all about in sports.
Going undefeated until losing in state championship can be gut-wrenching. But Aliquippa coach Mike Warfield has great perspective - and is awfully proud of his team.

Southern Columbia senior halfback Gavin Garcia has the second most career touchdowns in his family. By the way, he also now has the second most TD’s in Pennsylvania history after tonight. He now has 132 for his career, trailing just his older brother Gaige who graduated with 159.

The Fantastic Four from Southern Columbia (Braeden Wisloski, Jake Davis, Jake Rose, & Gavin Garcia) are your PIAA CLASS 2A BOYS 4x1 RELAY STATE CHAMPIONS! ⁦@Dan_Reilly51⁩ ⁦@NIsports⁩

This is what it looks like to have two STATE CHAMPIONS from the same school win the gold within 5 minutes of each other. Southern Columbia’s Jake Rose (110 hurdles) & Braeden Wisloski (100 meters) are PIAA Class 2A Track & Field State Champions! @Dan_Reilly51 @NIsports

Not 1. Not 2. Not 3. Make it 4 Tigers that have now committed to the Big Ten for football! Read my article on the the most recent Southern Columbia player that has made his decision. The athlete will be a Badger in the fall: pafootballnews.com/district4/zach…

When Penn State absolutely needed it, Julian Fleming came up with two huge fourth down catches that allowed the Nittany Lions to win in overtime inside of the LA Memorial Coliseum. The SCA grad had a late fourth down grab for Ohio State in a win at Notre Dame last year as well.

PIAA Track & Field Championships: Tyler Arnold is Southern Columbia’s newest state champion! The Tiger senior won the 2A javelin gold with a throw of 205-4. Danville’s Bronson Krainak (197-2) finished in second, and Central Columbia’s Lincoln Huber (186-11) captured fourth.

Interesting sign for heavy underdog South Williamsport prior to entering the field against 11-time PIAA Champion Southern Columbia. The Mounties better have their game plan worked out better than their schedule. District 4 Class 2A playoff games are on Saturday’s folks!

I’m sick and tired of…hold on. Wait a minute…Southern Columbia. Southern Columbia. Southern Columbia. Incredible! The Tigers went 299 feet, to repeat, in the drive that kept the championship streak alive. @PaFootballNews Final Score: Southern Columbia - 21 Westinghouse - 20

If there is one athlete that can compete for two programs at a Power 5 school it is this guy @gaigegarcia23. Here is my article on the champion’s decision to head to Michigan: pafootballnews.com/district4/garc…
