Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service has announced that Chief Fire Officer Paul Hancock will step down from his role in June, following an 18-month period leading the service through a significant period of improvement and change.

00:00 - Replying to @CumbriaFireFirefighters were first mobilised at 11.02pm yesterday (18 May) and remained in attendance for about three hours. No signs of reignition were found during an inspection this morning.
- Firefighters worked late into the night to tackle a fire at a commercial site on Isabella Road, Workington. Six fire engines from Workington, Whitehaven, Cockermouth and Maryport fire stations attended, using a hose reel jet and ground monitors to extinguish the fire.
