Our thoughts & prayers are with Seven Bridges’ family as they cope with his passing. For many patients, #ostomies are life-saving appliances. We must continue to break the stigma that surrounds them in order to create deeper understanding & acceptance. nyp.st/2HsIF1Q

Fatigue in IBD affects about 50% of patients in remission and over 80% of patients with active disease. Despite some patients reporting that fatigue can be more debilitating than IBD itself, it is often under recognized. #CCCongress24

Our statement on access to methotrexate for IBD patients following Roe v. Wade overturning.
Methotrexate is a medication that is prescribed to treat several types of inflammatory conditions, including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease, as well as some types of cancers. Methotrexate can also be prescribed in the event of an ectopic pregnancy – a rare, nonviable type of pregnancy in which the embryo implants and begins to grow outside of the uterus, most commonly in one of the fallopian tubes. Since ectopic pregnancies will result in life-threatening internal bleeding for the patient if left untreated, methotrexate can be prescribed to end the pregnancy.

Following the overturning of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, we understand that IBD patients have questions about how laws restricting abortion access in some states will affect their ability to continue taking methotrexate to treat their disease. Please be aware that the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation is proactively investigating this situation and we are available to assist patients who have questions.

Did you catch @katelyn_ohashi's viral gymnastics routine this past weekend? It was awesome for so many reasons (skills!) but what made it even more special is all that she's experienced as an #ulcerativecolitis patient. Check it out!
