Monday was the 60th anniversary of the sudden deaths of more than 2000 peopleβ€”including 11 members of my family β€” in northern Italy. A rockslide caused a tsunami over a tall hydro electric dam. I went to Italy ten years ago and shared the personal story.

Police surrounded the protesters front and back. Large police armoured personnel carrier has been brought up in the distance. Snipers on the roof of customs building.

Huge police presence. So far, one by one, all the protesters in vehicles have left as asked.

Booing the Star Spangled Banner in MontrΓ©al doesn’t make Canadian fans bad sports. On the contrary. It is their opportunity to give voice to frustration with a hostile and unpredictable Trump government. Americans are going to find out increasingly how Canadians feel betrayed.

Reporter notebook: we are leaving Ottawa after covering the truck convoy/protest in Vaughan/Ottawa/Toronto/Windsor/Sarnia/Ottawa. And after seeing the most intense urban policing operation in my journalism career. 1/ #Ottawa

191 arrests now in Ottawa, according to interim police chief Steve Bell. Also 206 bank accounts frozen.
