A lot of y’all can hoop…..but can’t play basketball!!! There is a MAJOR difference.

To all my young hoopers, chill with all the training and workouts 2 and 3 times per day. Just go play pickup sometimes. Trust me, it works.

Too many people are commenting and having opinions on HBCU’s and have neither attended, or worked at one. Let alone grew up in, or around the culture. I’m a legacy kid when it comes to HBCU’s. My grandparents are HBCU grads, my father, my aunts, my wife, my brother, and me!!……

I don’t care how many hours you spend in the gym, or how great you look in a workout. CAN YOU HOOP?!?! Does it TRANSLATE?!?!

In order for HBCU sports to be nationally respected again, we have to first respect our schools and platforms ourselves. It starts and ends with us. There is a certain sense of pride that comes along with attending an HBCU. Understand why and where it comes from!!!

Let’s be clear, I will recruit ANYBODY!! There is no such thing as, “too high,” for me! @GoJSUTigersMBB is a Division I basketball program, and one of the most well rounded Universities in the country!! We are more than just a HBCU. #Mindset #TheeFamily #WeRthee

Dear Young Black athlete, Let’s be clear, this “HBCU thing,”is not a movement or fad, it’s a culture and a lifestyle! Stop playing with us. You with it or you ain’t, no hard feelings. It’s still love, but don’t make a mockery of the universities that were made for you!

As a former HBCU student athlete and proud graduate, I love the narrative currently surrounding HBCU sports. BUT, keep that same energy when it’s time for action. Don’t let this just be a moment in time that comes and goes. Stand on it, educate yourselves, and be a trailblazer!!
