My first year being a Pro Scout with the Mets back in 2008. H.S. Coach calls me and says I have a kid 90-92 MPH you need to see him. I drive an hour to a game and he’s 80-83 MPH on my Radar. That was my first experience as a Scout learning people lie about velocity.
Hearing from other High School Coaches that some Travel Ball coaches telling kids not to play for their High School Baseball Team. This is my 10th year being a head varsity baseball coach and I never heard such a thing! Kids play for your High School and battle for a State
The way travel baseball is run nowadays has hurt High School Baseball. Some will understand this others won’t. But players don’t play the game like they did 10 years ago.
HEY Travel Baseball Tournaments - NO 8 AM Games Please. Also, 2 games in one day is just plenty, there is no need to fit a 3rd game in. And how about No more gate fees and No more stay to play! Thanks!
Hey players, just because you're not ranked by Perfect Game doesn't mean you're not going to play Division 1 or Division 2 Baseball. Just keeping it real.
If you think your kid can play at Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Coastal Carolina, Clemson, etc….take him to a camp there, they will let you know. You don’t need to play in travel baseball tournaments for that! I had a player go to a UNC Camp, they liked him and offered him a spot!
Dear Parents, Playing time is not PERSONAL, All the High School Coaches I know are just trying to put their best team out there to win baseball games. Sometimes that means your son might not be in the line up, again it's just coaches trying to win baseball games.
To all the Organizations that run Tournaments, Stop doing Stay to Play, you are already making a ton of money off parents and travel organizations. How much money is enough for all of you. It’s getting ridiculous!
