I could watch this video 1,000 times. Not b/c of my sister's now dated award (go sis!) but because it was my Dad delivering it. Miss him like crazy. Excuse me if I keep this pinned for a while. Somedays it's just nice to hear his voice. ❤️
A special moment surprising @BrendaFrese with her family to tell her about this honor! 🐢❤️ #TerpFamily

'Kentucky Shooting'. Can do w/ 9 (3 groups of 3), or 12 (3 groups of 4). More than 12- run multiple courts. We do this for 2 mins & count 2 pts or 3 pts. We do 2 pt shots on 1-end, 3's on the other. Shooters rebound their own shot. Passer SPRINTS to the other end.

As AAU season approaches. Parents/Players realize that u don’t need to be on the top team to get noticed or earn a scholarship. PLAYING matters more than sitting the bench of a top team regardless of circuit. Quality clubs have multiple teams & can help showcase your talent.

Players: Bad body language on the bench will keep you sitting there longer than any mistake ever will.

To the parent who cheered so loud for every kid, that I wasn’t even sure whose was yours, thank you! 👏🏼👏🏼

Went to a HS regional game Friday to see recruits we were targeting. Within a few minutes got excited as well about a player we had never seen from the other team. I know I’m not the only coach who has experienced this. Players. You never know when it’s your time to be seen. 👀

Team passing drill with heavy balls. Working on skip passes, outside hand zip passes & drive & drift. Does wonders for ball strength & passing precision.

Asst. coaches. Every decision is easier from the seat you sit in. Everything may feel black & white. Its not. Every decision made creates a ripple, a ripple only the HC has to deal with while you head home & enjoy your night. Your HC isn’t always ‘soft’ they’re strategic.

5 trips shooting. 3 lines/3 balls. 5 mins. Shooter follows own shot & passes back to line they shot at. Then rotates lines. Goal. Make 15- 3's on one end, then entire team runs to other end. Make 20 mid-range shots. Keep going until time is up. Goal is to make 5 or more trips.

Ball fakes are the easiest skill in basketball and also the most underutilized.

Athletes! As difficult as it is for you to leave family & friends to come back to campus for practice, it is pretty amazing to think about the elite company you are in. Less than 1% do what you do. Amazing!!

Being ‘coachable’ is not just nodding your head and saying “yes ma’am”/“no sir”. It’s also about making corrections when coached. A fair amount of players say they’re coachable but actions also speak loudly.

SuperWoman lay-ups. 1-min a round. 7 makes a round for faster players. So if 6 players=42 makes for group per round. 2nd group is the passers. Players go continuous for an entire minute. If someone is slowing them down can pass them w/ the dribble. We alternate & do R & L side.

Elite players just move different. They value sleep & rest more & are aware of their nutrition. They don’t enjoy drama & when it finds them they quickly see themselves out. They view even bad days in practice as opportunities to learn. Elite players just move different.
