- Players: Make a basket. Hustle back for a defensive stop.
00:00 - Texas Tech MBB “Kill Drill” • 5 players on defense; they have to play, without substitutions, 90 seconds or three defensive possessions without giving up a basket • If opposing team scores the clock starts over Side note: Coaches have their own standards of defensive stops
- UMBC’s “Laker Layups” Drill •Start over on all misses, failing to get the ball out of the net, not getting behind the baseline, and not counting •Sprint around the cones and through halfcourt •After set makes on one side immediately switch to the other side
00:00 - Utah’s “Michigan State Passing” Drill • GOAL = 13 makes in 1 minute • 5 players on the court • Rotation is: Rebounder becomes middle Layup becomes rebounder Middle becomes Layup/Wing • Pass it quickly, precisely AND no misses championshipproductions.com/cgi-bin/champ/…
00:00 - So way back I used to have an old tweet of my “Shooting Challenges” document…I figured I’d share it again! It’s a mix of my own & ones I’ve gotten from other coaches Disclaimer: You ask anyone I used to train they’d say my “Conditioning 3’s” was their favorite 😉
00:00 - Coaches take from other coaches. Have been a fan of this 1v1 drill so we added it to summer workouts Set Up: • O is working on ball handling (any combinations they want) but focusing on pace & twitch • D can touch either cone - once D touches a cone is when O can attack
00:00 - Replying to @CoachCass_I have nothing to “promote” but let’s clear some things up: • These are grown WOMEN not “girls” • I’ll explain the defensive rotation that should’ve happened if u need me too, or simply appreciate the hustle...Also there’s no “travel” • SUPPORT WOMEN’S SPORTS #SayHerName
- Mississippi State’s “Auburn” Drill: • OBoard: 2pts DBoard: 1pt Two-pointer: 2pts Three-pointer: 3pts • Split into two teams, go for set time • Outside is shooter, inside is screener, & players on the blocks • Losing team has a down-back & through half court in 15secs
00:00 - Really like this closeout drill setup & executionCloseouts are tough. Practice them daily, with energy… “Be Active” ☝🏽: Active mouth 🗣 - Identify 🏀 ✌🏽: Active feet 👣 - Contain drive 👌🏽: Active hands ✋🏽- Slowdown shot
00:00 - When doing Alley-Ball (Zig Zags), have a set time the offense has to get from baseline to baseline (8-10seconds). If Offense makes time the defender has 10 pushups. If defense gets a stop/steal the offense has 10 pushups. Forces players to compete & push themselves on both ends.
00:00 - Had stolen this one from another coach last summer but loved it because it plays with the mental side The best shooters have “amnesia” and focus on the present shot instead of the last make/miss
- Got another great drill to share with you all from Coach Pat Estepp of Cederville: They use this towards the beginning of practice - great drill to emphasize BALL PROTECTION. 3 v 4 - Offense has to complete 10 clean passes
