Seeing @AngelaRayner representing our party and the Labour movement always makes me proud. Angela started her career in care work, I started working in a laundry. She’s now deputy leader of our party and I lead a Core City. Working class women can lead, do lead, and we’re good

In my first meeting as leader of @MyNottingham, I promised swift action working with @NFFC to agree a deal to keep Forest at the City Ground. In the same meeting I said that I'm a problem solver. I'm pleased that a positive deal for #NFFC is on the table.
Subject to agreement later this month, terms have been agreed with @NFFC for the sale of land owned by @MyNottingham at the City Ground. With the successful completion of this deal, football is staying home on the banks of the Trent🔴⚪️🌳

I'm very proud to have been elected Leader of @MyNottingham at the council's AGM this evening. To lead the city where I was born and raised is a huge honour. As our first female British-Pakistani Leader, I want to show young women and young people of colour there should be no
Dales cllr @CllrNeghat is elected as Leader of @MyNottingham. Thank you, @CllrDavidMellen & @cllrifediora, for their speeches in support of Neghat's leadership, & congratulations, Neghat. She is the first woman of colour to be Leader & only the second woman to hold the role🌹

I wouldn't call it a row, but I hope that Mr Marinakis and Mr Cartledge take me up on the offer. I want to find how we can support them, @NFFC and the fans to stay at the City Ground whilst getting the best and fairest deal for Nottingham people.

I’ve seen the comments online about the new BBC Sherwood series featuring a LGBT Sheriff of Nottingham. Our Sheriff changes annually and the role has been held by people of colour, LGBT people and many other representatives of the diverse communities of our city of Nottingham

I am honoured to be the new leader of @NG_Labour. After 14 years of Tory austerity, we have an uphill task but I will not let that lessen our ambitions for Nottingham. Together, Nottingham Labour will champion and work with our communities to deliver for Nottingham people🌹
Following our first AGM last night, we can announce that @CllrNeghat is the new leader of @NG_Labour and will take on the role of leader of @MyNottingham after the council's AGM on 20th May. We thank @CllrDavidMellen for his 5 years of leadership and congratulations Neghat🌹

I'm disgusted by Tommy Robinson & his attack on a young Muslim woman from Nottingham online today. My choice to wear hijab is my choice, and, as an elected councillor & Leader of Nottingham City, "these people" do not "need to leave", we're here to lead and stand up to bullies.

Dog whistle politics from Ben Bradley & East Midlands Conservatives. The choice is clear: someone who is willing to chuck communities under the bus (a bus he’d probably have sold off to private firms) or @ClaireWard4EM who has a plan to help & support everyone in our region.
Wow... Conservative Party political broadcast just now: Ben Bradley says that in Labour-run Councils "you're more likely to have to wait behind non-British nationals for social housing" They're not just the nasty party, they're now sourcing their attacks lines from the BNP.

Today I am launching my campaign to be your Labour candidate for Nottingham East. The place I was born and raised. I have put my name forward because we need a new kind of candidate. Somebody who is at the heart of our community and somebody with the experience to deliver.

I was proud to speak at #Lab21 conference this afternoon. My support for women's rights, women’s safety & all those who have experienced hate crimes is unwavering. We need a Labour government to reform the Criminal justice system to protect us better. #WomenSupportingWomen
