- WR E.J. Williams will be wearing No. 39 for Military Appreciation Day on Saturday instead of his usual No. 6. His father, Sgt. 1st Class Eddie Williams Sr., died at 39 years of age in 2010 after serving 18 years in the U.S. Army.
- History. With Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne both being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round, the duo became the first QB/RB duo from a single school ever drafted by the same team in the first round of an NFL Draft in the Common Draft era.
- WR Justyn Ross has been selected to run the American flag down the Hill for today's Military Appreciation Day game. His mother, Charay Franklin, has served in the Navy and Alabama National Guard and completed deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait.
- Legitimately a little emotional today feeling like I’m handing this guy off to an NFL PR staff. 280 characters are too few to describe his professionalism and what he’ll bring to his next team, league and community. A genuinely great dude for whom even greater things await.
- Submitted only as a reminder of the absurd versatility and productivity of C.J. Spiller: Travis Etienne is now 594 yards away from reaching Sammy Watkins for second on Clemson's leaderboard for career all-purpose yards. That pulls him only 3,053 yards shy of Spiller for first.
- I appreciate the VT staff for their hospitality and for this note. Everyone hears the phrases “All In” and “Best is the Standard,” but as our players and staff can attest, it’s possible the most frequently used phrase internally is “No one cleans up after Clemson.”Just a quick thank you to the Clemson University Football Team for leaving the visiting team locker room clean and in great shape after the game. Also thanks for stacking the chairs we set up for your post-game meal. Class Act.
- Will Shipley, an Academic All-American a year ago, graduated today in only three years with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Voting is underway for his chance to repeat @CollSportsComm @AcadAllAmerica honors. 4,000+ career all-purpose yards AND a 4.0 GPA in only three years is astounding.
- First interception by a Clemson product in a Super Bowl, followed on the ensuing play by the second-longest Super Bowl reception by a Clemson product.
- From the "You Can't Make Up" Department: Antonio Williams became the first Clemson non-QB to record a pass completion in consecutive games since 2002 when it was done by a receiver named... Tony Elliott.
- They don't make dudes better than @MattBockhorst. As Dabo Swinney said, "That kid has given every ounce of everything he’s had in his career." His thank you to the media is excerpted below; the full interview is linked here: youtube.com/watch?v=rKAmPu…
00:00 - Pardon this moment of absurdity on team picture day, but there’s now photographic proof that this finally happened. Many thanks to Justyn and Will for obliging.
- I didn’t get to meet most of the team until meetings started in August. After that first meeting, this CB from Fort Lauderdale made it a point to seek me out in my new office to welcome me to Clemson and offer to help however he could. He will be a pro in every sense of the word.Thank You, Clemson Family 🐅
