My favorite science photo ever! No more white coats or looking down microscopes please! “I was no longer pretending or hiding”: a trans scientist finds a lab to call home nature.com/articles/d4158… @UniofOxford @mplsoxford @LinacreCollege @OxfordMaterials @tigerinstemm

I am so excited to be going into the weekend with the news that I have been awarded a @DaphneJacksonTr fellowship, sponsored by the @RoySocChem, continuing to work in the @OxfordMaterials with the awesome @SusieSpeller. Woohoo! #TransInSTEM #PrideinSTEM #LGBTinSTEM

Happy Trans Day of Visibility everyone. For all my trans siblings, and my non-trans friends and allies, whether you keep your trans status hidden or, like me, kinda bang on about it. I love you all.

First diversity and inclusion committee meeting at the @royalsociety. Exciting!

"I don’t recall a plethora of columns offering solidarity from heterosexual “feminists” before so many latched on to lesbians as a way to push their agenda on trans issues." Opinion: I'm sick of being told trans people are ‘erasing’ lesbians like me

Awesome new #science book, highlighting many different scientists including some very big names from history, modern amazing folk like @GretaThunberg and @NeilDeGrTyson and... me?!?

I made a coffee table, with two extendable sleeves to fit those larger #boardgames All reclaimed wood, whether personally or from @OxfordWood Mix of woods, and NO metal in the making. Pretty pleased with myself. Could be better but those are lessons for next time 🙂

I wrote a blog piece for the RS talking about why we cannot simply ignore our identities, in my case being LGBTI+, and 'just get on with our job'
“Honesty and openness are essential if we want to create real change, not just for LGBT+ people but for everyone.” @ClaraMBarker explains why she can't ignore her #LGBT+ identity to do her job. #LGBTHistory blogs.royalsociety.org/in-verba/2020/…

It's nice to be recognized alongside amazing trans scientists. I'm always humbled people want to hear from me. And, for those that know me, huge shock but... ...it isn't one of the 2 photos I use for everything! 'Gasp' #TransInSTEM #TransRightsAreHumanRights #TransWomenareWomen
Today, we're celebrating Trans scientists. Meet Dr. Clara Barker (@ClaraMBarker), a thin-film material scientist who manages the Centre for Applied Superconductivity, in the materials department at Oxford University. Dr. Barker is also a TEDx speaker: ow.ly/Zyy650A4Y4C

Today is the trans day of visibility. #tdov To all my trans siblings, a brighter day is coming. To those who are out and loud, you are beacons to so many. Make sure you tell your heroes, I try to! To those who are not out, take your time, this is your journey.

I hate that our culture is being split by anti-intellectualism masquerading as free speech and, well, intelectual though. It isn't. It is hypocracy. Students removing a picture from a private room is not news, it is their choice and, well, not important in the scheme of things
Oxford University students removing a picture of the Queen is simply absurd. She is the Head of State and a symbol of what is best about the UK. During her long reign she has worked tirelessly to promote British values of tolerance, inclusivity & respect around the world

Ah, I wrote a thing. I'd forgotten about this one, written in a pre-lockdown world!
Dr Clara Barker, engineer and materials scientist, writes on our blog why she can't ignore the fact that she is LGBT+ to do her job. Read her experience as an LGBT+ scientist. #PrideMonth royalsociety.org/blog/2020/02/w…
