    This man was arrested by security early this morning after stealing copper cables at Cydna substation. He is Zimbabwean migrant. Same substation was under attack last week where about 10 criminals in bakkies stormed substation, tied security, made off with 12 cables.

    A suspect was arrested in Roodepoort last night for being in possession of 140kg of copper cables belonging to City Power estimated to worth around R80 000. The suspect, a Cameroonian illegal migrant, attempted to bribe the @SAPoliceService with R10 000 during the arrest.

    A foreign national from Lesotho was killed earlier today after he allegedly vandalised one of our minisubstations at Hawker Siddley in Roodepoort. We suspect the intention was to steal copper bits. The Minisubstation blew up badly injuring him. He died in hospital.

    Two Cameroonian males were arrested with the help of @JoburgMPD and @coj_gfis in possession of stolen copper and electricity cables estimated to worth R3m in Bramely. Upon arrest the suspects attempted to pay R10 000 bribe to the officials.

    We commend the community for the arrest of this Zimbabwean national for the theft of cables along M2 Highway near George Gogh hostel. The suspect and accomplices dug out copper cables early this morning. The community which has been patrolling the area pounced and arrested 1

    City Power security arrested one Lesotho foreign national for #Cabletheft. The suspect and his friend were found digging copper cables next to China Mall in Laanglaagte. One ran away. Tools like pik, shovel were confiscated at the scene.

    These women and men worked night &day from Tuesday when transformer burnt at Cleveland substation. Throughout Xmas they were on site doing mop up, repair work, & connecting new transformer to ensure power is restored 12hrs b4 set time. We salute You! Thank you! @CityofJoburgZA

    #Vandalism #CableTheft Two suspects were nabbed yday at Chloorkop, Kempton Park selling copper cable to a scrap metal dealer. The suspects, one a Zimbabwean, are working for a City Power sub-contractor working at Robertsham substation which was gutted by fire in October 2021.

    #Dainfern The highest single debt for one customer is R1.4 million, and the house was found with no meter, thus illegally connected. At least 40 customers collectively owe City Power amounts between R100 000 and R1.4million. @CityofJoburgZA
