The behavior on virulent display in Brentwood on Thanksgiving Day and continuing in the City today is unacceptable. Physically harming or criminally threatening another person, trespass, and vandalism, are not protected speech and should be prosecuted.

The City of L.A. COVID-19 eviction protections for nonpayment of rent have expired. Starting today, renters must pay their full current monthly rent to avoid eviction for non-payment of rent.

I joined Mayor Karen Bass today to announce that the City is taking action to preserve and rehabilitate nearly 2,000 units of permanent supportive housing owned by the Skid Row Housing Trust. This will keep 1,500 people housed and enable hundreds more to move off the streets.

This week, I stepped in to lead one of the largest and best public law firms in the country. As the first Latina in the history of Los Angeles elected to citywide office, I am honored and excited to be your new City Attorney.

My mother has been right by my side on this City Attorney journey and that is an enormous blessing.

We may be the first women in our new positions, but we won't be the last. I am so pleased to be serving the City of Los Angeles alongside LAFD Chief Kristin Crowley. She is the first female Fire Chief in L.A. history, having taken her oath of office in March.

I wish you a safe and prosperous holiday season, whatever holiday you celebrate. And I celebrate us all — in our diversity, our inclusion and our love for our City.

Thank you, L.A. General Services Division and the Sign Shop for this wonderful surprise today! This is the new sign outside of the City Attorney's Office. I love it. @LACity

The best part of my new role as Los Angeles City Attorney is meeting the nearly 1,000 talented and dedicated people that work for this office, which spans 14 separate locations. Julie Riley serves as General Counsel for the Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power.
