For all those removing mask mandates, I repeat a graphic I've been using since March 2020. We keep doing this over and over and over.
Graph of new cases against time. Red line: business as usual. Green line: with prevention and precaution efforts. The two lines coincide up to a point labled “Efforts start working,” when the green line starts to go down. Shortly after that is a purple marker labeled “Warning! We are close to” with an arrow pointing to “See? It wasn’t so bad. We overreacted,” which delineates a blue box low in the “new cases” space. The green line goes down in the blue box to a minimum labeled in red “We did it!! Let’s stop this and return to normal.” From that point, the green line turns red and goes up as fast as the other red one. Provenance of the graphic not known.

I'm seeing a number of commentators just pleased that we're not in a nuclear war. That's what Trump does: Play up, make possible, an utterly devastating outcome. Then people are pleased when it doesn't happen. Abuser tactics.

None of the reactors at Zaporizhzhia is likely to explode in the way Chernobyl did. But Russians must move away from the plant.
Russian army is firing from all sides upon Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Fire has already broke out. If it blows up, it will be 10 times larger than Chornobyl! Russians must IMMEDIATELY cease the fire, allow firefighters, establish a security zone!

    Attorney General of Massachusetts.
I don't wake up every day looking for a way to sue Donald Trump. But we are 10 days in and I've filed three cases already.

A short explainer. I'm not going to limit replies so that people can ask questions, but I will warn the mansplainers in particular to read my pinned tweet.

I think that not all of what we are hearing is subtext. It's description of a man in full, a country for everyone. It seems like subtext only because of the shrunken man in the White House and his enablers.
Every eulogy at McCain’s funeral has the exact same subtext. Trump isn’t at the ceremony and no one has uttered his name. But man, the messages couldn’t be clearer.

WHY IS A FIVE YEAR OLD'S SIGNATURE LEGALLY BINDING
Horrifying story by @stillsarita. A 5-year-old girl, separated from her family, signed away her right to a hearing that would have hastened her release and reunification. newyorker.com/news/news-desk…

And therefore now I'll vote to trash the filibuster and vote for the Women's Health Act. Right, @Sen_JoeManchin?
Manchin: "I trusted Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh when they testified under oath that they also believed Roe v. Wade was settled legal precedent and I am alarmed they chose to reject the stability the ruling has provided for two generations of Americans."

There's that @nytimes passive again. That tear gas just keeps showing up, all by itself.
