Hi #BlackinChem, Iβm Lauren Hagler (she/her), a post-doc in the Herschlag lab at @StanfordBiochem on the path to R1 academia. Iβm so excited for this week and networking with all of you. Hereβs a little bit about me... #BlackinChemRollCall #BlackinBiological #BlackChemistsWeek

- Iβm excited to announce that I will be starting my independent career as a TT Asst Prof of Chemistry at @TAMUChemistry!! The Hagler lab will open in Fall 2024 developing high-throughput methods to measure, predict, and modulate RNA interactions.
- Iβm excited to announce that I have been selected as a 2022 HHMI Hanna Gray Fellow! Thank you @HHMINEWS for this opportunity! This could not have been possible without my friends and mentors over the years @Herschlab @RouskinLab @steveczimmerman πΎ
- My first paper from the @Herschlab is finally out! Such a fun collaborative effort and a chance to get my feet wet deriving predictive models from high-throughput data for RNA-protein interactions. nature.com/articles/s4146β¦
- Iβm excited to share my research at this yearβs Stanford-Berkeley-UCSF Next Generation Faculty Symposium this Friday! The symposium is virtual and open to all by registration.
- A trip of firsts: First time in Asia, first time at RNA Society, first time presenting my postdoc work w/ @Herschlab @RouskinLab. Thank you, Singapore for being so warm and friendly! #RNA23
- The HGF Orientation and Science Meeting has been nothing short of amazing!! This fellowship has already proven to be so much more than just the money. It is a community of excellence, inspiration from the generation prior, and promise for the next. @HHMINEWS #hanngrayfellows
- Replying to @Cheers2LOI got my PhD grad in Organic Chem developing small molecule drugs that bind to nucleic acids, but Iβm currently diving into RNA Biochemistry studying how RNA folds in cells. I recently defended my thesis on zoom which was surprisingly a lot of fun. #BlackinChem #BlackinOrganic
- #IAm a black woman and a chemist #IWill become a full professor at a top research institution #Inst2018 The road to #PhinisheD
- Replying to @Cheers2LOAndβ¦ Iβm hiring (postdocs, grad students, and RAs)!!! If youβre interested in combining basic science and translational chemical biology to study RNA, please reach out!
- Replying to @Cheers2LOWhen Iβm not in the lab, I like to get outside in sunny California and spend time with my friends drinking lots of wine, taking photos of nature, and pretending to like running but mostly just stopping to take pictures while running. #BlackInChem #BlackinChemRollCall
- Iβm very excited to be coming back to @ChemistryUIUC soon in honor of St. Elmo Brady. Thank you to the organizers for what Iβm sure will be a great symposium!@ChemistryUIUC will be hosting the St. Elmo Brady Postdoctoral Inclusive Excellence Symposium on Jun 8-9 featuring @Cheers2LO @AnaCristinaGAlz @Mel_1090 and Jeanne N'Diaye. Shout out to @ChanLabUIUC member @ForzanoJoe for being integral to organizing this event. Proud of you Joe!
