- Governor Kemp has lifted the Mandatory Evacuation Order for Zones A and B. Chatham County is now open for re-entry. Those who have evacuated are permitted to enter without restrictions!
- The curfew for Chatham County has been officially lifted and is no longer in effect.
- There is a MANDATORY evacuation for all of Chatham County beginning 8AM on Saturday 09/09/2017. Make your preparations now!
- The evacuation order has been lifted for Chatham County, with the exception of Tybee Island, people can return to Chatham County!
- Mandatory evacuation of all zones beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday. At the same time, I-16 will be put in contraflow going west only.
- Just received word that the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is now closed. #winterweather
- CEMA has demobilized the Emergency Operation Center and returned to OPCON 5, which is considered normal operations during hurricane season. The threat from #Florence has significantly decreased for #ChathamCounty, which warrants the return to normal operations.
- Chatham County has partnered with Waze and Google maps to provide citizens of Chatham County with up to date information on road closures. Download the Waze or Google Maps apps and the closures are automatically shown and used when providing guidance. No extra steps necessary!
- Dorian is now a category 5 hurricane. The track is consistent and Chatham remains in the error cone. We could see impacts mid to late this week including heavy rain, strong winds, and coastal flooding. Prepare now by updating your emergency plans and ensuring your kit is stocked.
- CEMA has entered OP Con 3, the mobilization phase. We'll continue to monitor #Florence and any impacts it may bring. We could be impacted by tropical storm conditions within the next 48 hours. Most likely impacts will include tropical storm force winds and rainfall.
- Gov Deal changes Chatham County evacuation. Zone A remains mandatory evacuation. Zones B & C are now general evacuation.
- Dorian is still a category 5 hurricane. The storm's speed has slowed again. Chatham remains in the cone and wecould see potential impacts of strong winds, heavy rains, and coastal flooding in our area mid to late this week. Take time now to finalize your preparedness efforts.
- Dorian is now a category 4 hurricane; it sped up overnight and gained strength. The track has also changed considerably and models are less confident in a Florida landfall. Chatham remains in the error cone and could see impacts mid to late next week. Now is the time to prepare.
