Michael Jordan:
The GOAT of Basketball or the GOAT of Image, Mythology & Brand Management?
Is the Jordan myth empowered by being in the right place at the right time?
A thread 🧵
If Jordan did this they would not stop showing it for decades. But this happening everyday in today’s game. And old heads want to tell you that players are not better today.
Kids don’t understand, he was a better offensive player than prime KD while by far the BEST defender in the NBA, could guard all 5 positions easily, play all 5 positions & be the best in NBA in that position.
The gap between peak LeBron & everyone else in history is astronomical.
Yahoo sports reviewed Jordan’s DPOY games, in a 6 games sample:
- Jordan was awarded 28 steals, while he had only 12 based on the footage.
- In one game, Jordan was given more steals than the other team had turnovers!
NBA, NIKE & media went all in to create a fraudulent GOAT.
"There was a game they credited Jordan w/ more steals than the other team had turnovers. Might put a different hue on the GOAT conversation. ... I'm just here for a fair & accurate reading of NBA history." 👀

Erik Spoelstra: "If we played LeBron in any of the 5 positions, he would be the best in the league in that position. I always regret and it bothers me to this day that I didn’t have the guts to play him in all 5 positions".
One of a kind @KingJames
Ty Lue and Spo turned into elite coaches after graduating from LeBron’s University. I doubt if Ham can even graduate; he’s by far the worst student LeBron has had.
LeBron doesn't have Kobe's mentality, yet he trained harder, took better care of his body, and played at the highest level for a significantly longer time.
Make it make sense.
The MAIN difference between Kobe and LeBron is their mental strength.
Kobe NEVER made excuses and would push himself to train harder.
LeBron is the better overall player but I wonder if Bron had Kobe’s mentality how much MORE he could have accomplished 🤔
“Yes, [the Celtics] do have 1 more ring...but the Los Angeles Lakers have 9 more Finals appearances, which means although they have 1 less title, their time spent in relevancy is significantly more than yours. That would make you the better overall franchise.”
- Stephen A.
I wished LeBron had a 17 points game, played no defense, and his team saved him and won the game for him. 🤣
Steph is the luckiest mf to ever play in the NBA.
