Tomorrow, I will join with the other Cardinal Electors in fulfilling our sacred responsibility to elect a new pope. During this time, I will have no communication with anyone outside the Sistine Chapel’s walls. Please ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as we discern God’s will.

- Pope Francis deserves our prayerful support not only because he’s St. Peter’s successor but because he’s a good, holy man doing his best to shepherd our Church in troubled times. Let’s pray for him—even if we disagree with something he says or does.
- Now is not the time to give up on the Church. Now is the time to renew the Church in holiness & virtue. Our Church must be a safe haven where all are welcome. This will require breaking down the structures and cultures that enable arrogance, hostility to strangers and abuse.
- I am shocked beyond words by the decision of the Holy Father. Please pray for me.
- A fearful nation talks about building walls and is vulnerable to con men. We must challenge the fear before we are led into darkness.

- Mary, Star of the Sea, show us the way to your Son, Jesus. Be our sure guide in these troubled times. Comfort us and guide us always.
- The bishops of the United States gather this week at the request of Pope Francis for a silent retreat to discern God’s will for our Church. Please pray for us.
- Today we celebrate the first great Jesuit missionary, St. Francis Xavier. Through all his journeys, Francis lived with the poor. He comforted the sick and ministered to those who were vulnerable. Lord, give us the patience and perseverance of this holy man.
- Today we pray for our beloved dead. May all who sleep in Christ find peace, hope and lasting joy in the unconditional love and mercy of the living God.
- Please pray for Pope Francis and for the success of the Synod as it discusses the topic of Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment. Please also pray for me that, with the help of God’s grace, I can do my part to help restore confidence in the leadership of our Church.
- God's kindness has appeared! Whatever happens at the polls, God will reign. Our work begins tomorrow, building bridges and healing wounds.
- St. Francis of Assisi abandoned the wealth and splendor of the rich for the rags worn by the homeless. He chose to be desperately poor in order to follow Jesus and live as he did.
- Let us give thanks for Pope Francis, his life, his witness, and his love for the People of God. And may we honor his memory by building a Church that reflects the face of Jesus — merciful, welcoming, and always near to those on the margins.
