- Coffee Story I bought the same cup of coffee everyday from the corner shop in downtown LA. Large cup, light cream, no sugar. They looked up as I walked in, started grinding the beans. I grabbed a cup before my 1-way flight to Texas. My last week of fellowship; didn’t say Bye.
- Replying to @CPark_MDTwo weeks later a package arrives. It’s two bags of my favorite beans and a tumbler. They remembered me. During a pandemic. Amongst all the fear and masked faces. I know I didn’t have to remind you, but there are good humans out there. Spread the 💙
- This is going to sound weird, but I save the voicemails of my family members and loved ones. I’ve seen enough things as a trauma surgeon, and am frequently reminded that one day I may never hear their voices again. Stay safe and warm.
- Replying to @CPark_MDI wrote a letter to this coffee shop with this picture: “Hi, you probably don’t remember me but you kept me going everyday during trauma fellowship. Sometimes that light cream was my breakfast and lunch. I just wanted to say thank you for what you do.”
- Replying to @CPark_MDOmg the coffee shop got back to me. And wow, I didn’t anticipate the responses!🥹 I love all of your beautiful stories (I think a lot of us needed the boost) & learned to thank early. Hope you all keep supporting each other, one cup or moment at a time.💙
- On call last night and showed up at 0150 before the grill closed. Asked for a veggie burger and “some tater tots if you have them.” Line Cook understood the assignment😂
- Surgeons waiting for their first case startSquirrel in a big huff
- Replying to @CPark_MDI came across a picture of me drinking my last cup while unboxing some bagels and masks sent from my sister. I was really missing home.
- Replying to @CPark_MDI drank every drop in the cab to the airport. I should have said “Bye.”Moved to Texas, started my job. Fast forward. The Pandemic happened.
- Will I ever stop saying “b. cereus” every time I look at old rice in the fridge
